What are your New Year’s learning resolutions? We have been discussing these and thought it would be great to get people to share theirs on a New Year Wallwisher. Please have a think and add your learning resolutions to our wall.
New Year’s Wallwisher
What’s happening next?
Last term we made a short film all about marking and feedback. We asked children from different year groups what they thought about the marking policy and then we filmed some of them in the green screen studio. This term we will be doing a bit more work on the film so it can be shown to the staff and governors. We are also setting up a wallwisher so everyone can share with us their thoughts and ideas for 2012!
Julie Jones (SSAT) asked what we knew about enterprise and gave us some information about the qualities of good learning. She asked us what a good Hawes Side student would be like and what a good high school student would be like.
Julie asked us what we thought we need to learn before we go to high school. Things like, organising yourself and being more independent.

Today’s meeting was all about setting up author rights to the blog for the T&L group. This week we will be visiting classes to find out just how many questions are open and closed. We’re then going to share the findings here on the blog. If you have any thoughts about questioning, please share them here.

We are looking into questioning this year and how it can help you become a more effective learner. Our main areas of research are:
Open and closed questions
Higher order and lower order questions
Think time, paired talk etc…
Our first job is to visit all the classes in school to tally the number of open/closed questions. We are going to work in groups over the next two weeks to see if there are any patterns in the use of open and clsoed questions. We will share our results via the blog when we’ve finished.
You can join in with our work by leaving a comment on our wallwisher at http://www.wallwisher.com/wall/hawessidetandlg
